Saltersford Valley Picnic Area
Saltersford Valley is a seven-hectare site in The National Forest which has open water areas known as ‘flashes’. These result from mining subsidence that causes the Saltersford Brook to flood. There are sites planted with new native woodland and open areas managed as grassland, which feature wild flowers.
The site was designated as a Local Nature Reserve in 2004.
Opening Times
Free car park, open daily 9am – 4pm (Oct – Mar), 9am – 7pm (Apr – Sept). We do not permit overnight parking or camping.

The stone-surfaced paths are suitable for all users. Wheelchair users will need assistance in some places
