Spring has well and truly arrived on our country parks and throughout the Leicestershire countryside.  The air is full of the fragrances of new growth as plants produce their first shoots of the new growing season.

Vibrant birdsong can be heard resonating through our woodlands as summer visitors such as the Chiffchaff arrive, whilst our meadows are serenaded by the resident skylark.

In hedgerows, look out for the spectacular male Bullfinch with his vibrant red waistcoat. Many of our woodlands are currently displaying wonderful carpets of Bluebells – a visit to the Broombriggs Farm Trail (i.e. adjacent to Beacon Hill) is well worthwhile at this time of year.

Bluebells also feature in the arboretum at Market Bosworth Country Park where a beautiful variety of foliage and flower colour is on display from a wide range of specimen trees and shrubs. Spring is a great time to visit our country parks and enjoy the wonderful variety of sights, sounds and smells which this special time of year has to offer.
